Hand-painted canvas or a personalised digital portrait?

Both begin with your photograph and ideas. The difference is how the artwork is created and the physical piece you receive.

  • Paint applied by hand to canvas.
  • Custom quote for your subjects, size and requirements.
  • Framing and presentation discussed with your order.
  • Payment, review stages and timing confirmed before work begins.

Make it meaningful

Who belongs in your portrait?

Parents & children

Celebrate an everyday moment or a favourite milestone. Tell us which expressions and details you would like preserved.

Generations together

Bring your idea for a portrait of grandparents, parents and children. Share your photographs so we can assess the composition.

Couples & anniversaries

Mark a shared story with a portrait based on a photograph that means something to you both.

Family with pets

Include the companions who are part of your family. Tell us how many people and pets should appear.

Remembering someone loved

Discuss a remembrance portrait with the photograph and details you feel comfortable sharing. Older images can be assessed before ordering.

Names & personal details

Request a family name, meaningful date, preferred colours or a simpler background. Include exact wording in your brief.

Different photographs. One family portrait?

If everyone is not in the same photograph, send your images for assessment. Face angles, lighting, resolution and the proposed arrangement affect whether they can work together convincingly.

Tell us which photograph to use for each person and how you would like them arranged. We’ll discuss what is achievable before you commit.

From photograph to artwork

A clear brief. A personal result.

01

Share your idea

Send your photographs, number of people and pets, preferred size and special requests. Choose hand-painted or digital, or ask for help deciding.

02

Confirm the details

Review the quote, artwork specification, payment arrangements, revisions and estimated timing before work begins.

03

Review your portrait

For digital portraits, approve the preview before we print. Hand-painted commissions follow the review arrangements agreed with your quote.

Understand your quote

What does a family portrait cost?

The price depends on the service, number of people and pets, size, composition and finish. Request a quote for your specific portrait rather than choosing from an unrelated starting price.

For digital portraits, the artwork creation fee is separate from the required physical print and any framing. Confirm the total order cost before paying.

Your quote should make clear:

  • The people, pets and background included.
  • The artwork dimensions and medium or print material.
  • Artwork creation, printing and framing charges.
  • Delivery charges, if applicable, and estimated timing.
  • Payment stages, review process and revision arrangements.

The finishing details

Choose a place for your family story.

Share the wall space available, your preferred dimensions in centimetres and whether you want a portrait, landscape or square composition. We’ll discuss suitable sizes and finishes for your artwork.

Canvas prints

Our premium polycotton canvas and archival-quality printing give digital portraits a museum-quality print presentation. Stretched canvas prints arrive ready to hang.

Floating frame canvas

A frame surrounds the canvas with a subtle shadow gap. Ask about Black, White and Brown finishes for your chosen size. Framed canvas prints arrive ready to hang.

Paper prints

Discuss matte fine art or satin photo paper, framed or unframed. Framed paper prints arrive ready to hang; unframed prints require your own framing.

These print options apply to digitally created portraits. Hand-painted canvas presentation and framing are confirmed separately with your commission.

Photographs that help us get it right

Start with faces we can see clearly.

  • Send the original, highest-resolution photograph available.
  • Choose images with clear eyes, faces and natural expressions.
  • Avoid strong filters, deep shadows and heavily blurred faces.
  • Identify each person if you send multiple photographs.
  • Mention any feature, clothing or accessory that must be retained.

Before you commission your portrait

Family portrait questions, answered.

Can you turn a family photograph into a painting?

Yes. Request a hand-painted portrait on canvas or a digitally created portrait with a physical print. Send your photograph and preferred size so we can discuss suitability and provide a quote.

Is the portrait physically hand-painted?

The hand-painted service creates a physical painting with paint on canvas. The digital service uses a combination of digital techniques and produces a physical print. Tell us which service you want in your enquiry message.

Can you combine people from separate photographs?

Send the photographs for assessment. We need to consider facial angles, detail, lighting and the proposed composition before confirming what is achievable.

Can I include grandparents, children and pets?

Yes, you can request these subjects in your brief. Tell us how many people and pets to include and provide suitable reference photographs for assessment and quoting.

Will I approve the artwork before printing?

For digital portraits, yes: we print only after you approve the digital preview. Hand-painted commissions have separate review arrangements, confirmed with your quote.

How much does a family portrait painting cost?

Request a quote based on the number of subjects, size, composition and finish. Digital portraits have an artwork creation fee plus the required physical print and any framing. Confirm the complete price before payment.

Can I buy the digital artwork without a print?

No. Our digital portrait service requires a physical print purchase. The digital preview is provided so you can approve the artwork before printing.

Can you create a remembrance portrait?

Share the photographs and composition you have in mind for assessment. Tell us about any names, dates or meaningful details you would like considered.

How many revisions are included?

Revision arrangements are confirmed before payment. Include your style, composition, background and wording preferences at the start, and ask how changes outside the agreed brief are handled.

How long will my portrait take?

Timing depends on the service, complexity, review stages, finish and delivery location. Ask for a current estimate before ordering, especially for gifts. Digital approval is followed by print production and delivery.

Start with a photograph. Make it personal.
