Post-impressionist artist Vincent van Gogh produced the oil painting Imperial Fritillaries in a Copper Vase in Paris in 1887. The picture is currently housed in the Musée d'Orsay's collection in Paris, France. This piece was created by Van Gogh when he first came into contact with Impressionist influences and was beginning to use light and colour in his paintings. This painting predates some of his most well-known later pieces and stands out from other still lives due to the use of complementary colours and mixed techniques.
